Manage mobile numbers for SMS notifications on hosts

Learn how to manage mobile numbers for SMS notifications on hosts

Reception Hosts are te employees in your organization that can pre-register a Visitor at the reception (using the Outlook Add-in) and that appear in the Host selection field at a check-in kiosk:

As part of the notifications received by hosts (when for instance one of their visitors checks in at the reception), it is possible to set up custom SMS notifications. In order for AskCody to be able to send an SMS, the host's phone number needs to be accessible.

Mobile phone numbers are "looked up" in your organization's Entra ID by AskCody automatically on demand. So, that if an SMS notification is requested to be sent to a reception host, AskCody fetches the mobile phone number of that host right before sending the SMS message. Therefore, there's no need to manually fill out this information in the AskCody platform.

Where does AskCody get the mobile phone number from?

The mobile phone number is looked up in a user's Entra ID profile, in the "Mobile phone" attribute under Contact Information:

When populating this attribute, it is important to include the country indicator to ensure that SMS are delivered correctly.

Additional Requirement

In order for AskCody to be able to fetch the phone number, users need to have at least one user role in the AskCody platform. We recommend assigning users the AskCody Add-in User role, as this would guarantee access to all AskCody add-ins, in case your organization has rolled them out.
