Compatibility Requirements with AskCody

Learn about minimum compatibility requirements with AskCody

At AskCody, we strive to be as upfront, prepared, and transparent about compatibility, and how we aim to keep our entire Platform backward compatible for as long a window as possible, based on both security requirements and feasibility, integration with Microsoft based solution like Outlook, Exchange, Active Directory, and hardware we support.

This section of the Help Center highlights and sets out the compatibility requirements that AskCody will adhere to in relation to our Platform, integrations, and connected devices.

Software Compatibility Requirements

Microsoft Exchange

Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online:

- AskCody is fully compatible with Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online, with EWS and Microsoft Graph enabled.

Microsoft Server 2016 & 2019:

- AskCody is partly compatible with limited functionality* with Microsoft Exchange Server 2016 and Microsoft Exchange Server 2019, with EWS enabled (due to many new features and datapoints are only available with Microsoft Graph, which is only available in Microsoft 365).

Please note: On Microsoft Exchange Server, AskCody’s policy and guarantee is to always fully follow Microsoft’s Exchange Server supportability and lifecycle support, fully supporting and being compatible with Exchange Server versions that’s being supported and updated by Microsoft.

AskCody will only be fully compatible with fully supported Microsoft Exchange Server versions and CU’s. When an Exchange Server version is no longer fully supported by Microsoft, and no further updates will be provided before EOL, AskCody is no longer fully compatible with the not-supported Exchange Version by Microsoft.

Please note: By April 11th, 2023, Microsoft 2013 Server is no longer being supported and updated by Microsoft, meaning AskCody can't promise full compatibility with Microsoft Exchange Server 2013.

Recommendations:

Microsoft’s Exchange Server supportability matrix, which provides a central source for Exchange administrators to easily locate information about the level of support available for any configuration or required component for supported versions of Microsoft Exchange Server, brings overview of all Exchange Server versions. We highly recommend following this matrix.

Also, we recommend following Microsoft’s Support Lifecycle Policy on Exchange Server Versions.

Please always follow Microsoft Server Supportability Matrix and Microsoft’s Support Lifecycle Policy, to ensure full compatibility with AskCody.

*Limitations include Workplace Central, which is based on Microsoft Graph, not EWS.

Using an Exchange version no longer supported by Microsoft: would that still be compatible with AskCody?

What happens when an Exchange version is no longer being supported by Microsoft in terms of compatibility with AskCody?

With Exchange Server 2013 being the next in line (April 11th, 2023) for no longer being supported by Microsoft receiving no more new security updates, non-security updates, free or paid assisted support options, or online technical content updates, AskCody can no longer guarantee and assure full compatibility with Exchange Server 2013, which therefore no longer falls under our compatibility requirements.

Customers might continue to use Exchange Server 2013 for meeting room mailboxes connected with AskCody after this date, but as EWS (Microsoft Exchange Webservices) will be updated for Exchange Server 2016 or 2019, or as the Microsoft Graph continues to evolve and be the main API used to connect AskCody to Microsoft Exchange, customers might experience that features, services, data flows, access or data will stop working or have errors, which is no longer being supported by either Microsoft nor AskCody.

We therefore highly recommend upgrading in time to the newest version of Exchange Server or fully migrating to Exchange Online, to ensure full compatibility between Microsoft Exchange and AskCody.
