Learn how to make sure this settings updates on your events in AskCody
Info
The information on this article only affects Central, Maps, and All Bookings. Changes to events privacy are reflected in the rest of the AskCody platform.
When a meeting in Outlook is marked as Private or when the Private status is removed, these changes are not automatically reflected in Central, Maps and All Bookings. This behavior is due to a current Microsoft Graph API limitation, which does not send updates for event sensitivity changes (Private vs. Non-Private) to external applications, including AskCody.
How to ensure the meeting details are updated on Central, Maps and All Bookings
To make these changes be reflected in any of these components of the AskCody platform, the meeting organizer can make any additional update to the event, such as:
- Editing the meeting subject
- Adding or removing attendees
- Changing the location
- Updating the time or date
- Updating the description
Making any of these changes will trigger an update in Microsoft Graph, which will then push the updated meeting information (including Private status changes) to AskCody.
Why Does This Happen?
Microsoft Graph, the API used to sync meeting data between Microsoft Outlook and external platforms (like AskCody), currently does not propagate sensitivity changes (e.g., Normal to Private) unless another property of the event is modified. This means that even though the change is visible within Outlook, it is not communicated to external applications, and therefore the elements on the AskCody platform that depend on Microsoft Graph to function, are not notified about the update.
Will this be fixed by Microsoft?
There is a feature request submitted to Microsoft regarding this limitation, which you can find here:

While it is uncertain if or when Microsoft will update their API to support this change, we are monitoring the situation and will provide updates if the behavior changes.
