Learn how to troubleshoot when encountering "The license key is not valid" when setting up your AskCody Room Displays
These are the most common causes and solutions for this type of issue:
- The license key is not typed in correctly
- The hardware device does not have an established network connection
- The hardware device has an established network connection, but cannot get network-provided time
The license key is not typed in correctly
The license key you inserted might have a typo in one or more characters. Please double check that the characters you inserted match with the license key provided in the AskCody Portal.
The hardware device does not have an established network connection
As soon as the license key is inserted in the Meeting Room Display, the device will try to validate it using the internet. If the device does not have an established network connection, it will display the "The license key is not valid" error message. To solve this, please make sure that the hardware device has an established network connection.
The hardware device has an established network connection, but cannot get network-provided time
In cases where there is a firewall, or any strict policies in the IT security infrastructure of an organization, there might be network access policies preventing the meeting room display to synchronize the time with the internet. As the device is not able to correctly synchronize the time, the AskCody application will interpret the device time as invalid, and display the "The license key is not valid" error message. To solve this, please check that the time in the hardware device fits with your current time, and if it does not, please check in the settings that "network-provided time" is enabled, and that it can access the internet to synchronize the current time. As a side note, Android devices use the NTP pool time servers to perform this operation, so please make sure that your organizational rules for network access do not prevent the devices' access to these time servers.
